Privacy Policy

John Carter Photography · Melbourne, Australia · Last updated July 2026

Template for guidance only — not legal advice. Have reviewed by an Australian solicitor before relying on it.

This policy explains how John Carter Photography ("I", "me", "my") handles personal information, consistent with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This is a preview build, so no live information is being collected yet — the sections below describe how the finished site will work.

What I collect

I only collect the information you choose to give me:

Payment information

Card payments in the store are handled by a secure third-party payment provider. I never see or store your full card number or bank login — only a confirmation that a payment succeeded, and the order details needed to fulfil and support it.

How I use your information

Your details are used to reply to you, to fulfil and support any order or subscription, and to send the updates you've opted into. I don't use your information for unrelated purposes, and I don't sell it.

Who it's shared with

Information is shared only with the services needed to run the site and deliver your order — for example the website host, the payment provider, a postage or delivery service, and an email-delivery service. Each handles your information under its own privacy terms. Nothing is shared for advertising.

Cookies and analytics

The site aims to stay light on tracking. If simple, privacy-friendly analytics are switched on, they count page visits without identifying you or following you around the web.

Storing and protecting your information

I keep personal information only as long as needed to answer your enquiry, meet an order, or comply with any record-keeping obligations, and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss or unauthorised access.

Your rights

You can ask what information I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted at any time. Email carterscaptures@gmail.com and I'll action it promptly. If you're ever unhappy with how a privacy matter is handled, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
