Photographs made in the blue hour.
I chase the half-light — that short, moody stretch after sunset when the city turns to ink and the streetlights start to glow. This is a working portfolio, a print store, and a slow-burn magazine, all in one place.

Placeholders for now — on your live site each plate becomes one of John's photographs, with the caption and edition you choose.
Preview note — these are tasteful stand-ins, not real photos. Your live site drops in John's actual frames at full resolution, each with its own title and edition number.

About
I photograph the hour most people miss.
I'm John Carter, a Melbourne photographer drawn to low light and long shadows. I work slowly and mostly alone — waiting for the moment a street, a face or a stretch of coast settles into something worth keeping.
This site is where that work lives: the portfolio, the prints, and the writing about how the frames come to be. It grows a little every week.
